On The Strip

I have been an Aaron Sorkin fan for as long as I can recall...okay well let me rephrase that, I have been a fan of since the American President. Say what you will about the man, but his writing is funny, smart, and just damn enjoyable. So of course I had to tune into Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip tonight. I want to tell you that I absolutely loved it, but I found it a little lacking. Mind you, this is a pilot so they were introducing a lot stuff, kind of getting it out of the way so it was bound to move a little slow. I am definitely tuning in next week, to see what happens (hoping it picks up a little).

I do have this I want to point out, and I don't know if it is good or bad. At the beginning of the show Judd Hirsch (his character, Wes, was very short lived) did this little rant on live television. I wish there was already a transcript up cause I would like the whole rant, but what I want to mention is little line (and it might not be and exact quote) from this rant, "Our boys are out there fighting in a war that has theme music and a logo." Now, anything that talks about logos, or any design facet, catches my attention. I think this particular line stuck with me because it kind of emphasizes to what extent our world is designed. And furthermore I think it says something about how aware people are of design. I know, I am some sort of weird design freak, but I like stuff like that.
