Made My Day

Alright, the fact of the matter is I know some people are going to read this and think "freak."

Everyone has their heroes, their celebrities, and I am use to hearing people say, "Kyle Who?" when I start talking about Kyle Cooper. But he is my design hero, when I think design celebrity he is the man I think of.

So about a week ago I emailed Mr. Cooper's company and asked if he was going to be attending the Sundance Film Festival, and if he was, if he would be talking at any of the panels. He did the title design for a documentary called The Unforeseen which is going to be at Sundance this year. Like I have said, I am a fan and I love to hear good designers talk about design (Kyle Cooper is best known for this title design in films in case you didn't know-he has done SE7EN, The Mummy, Spiderman-the list goes on) so I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. I got an email the next day. Not from and web tech, not from an assistant or a secretary, I got an email from Mr. Cooper telling me that he would not be attending the festival but he was happy to hear from me.

Now I realize that it might not seem like a lot, but oh my God, it made my day, to think that Kyle Cooper took a minute to drop me an email. Obviously, a week later I am still smiling about it.
