It always seems to be the little things.
"Yes Ma'am"
I know this makes women cringe for some reason. And I know that "ma'am" has an older connotation to it. But there is just something about a genuine, earnest "yes ma'am." It shows respect and manners and gentlemanliness. I love the way it sounds when it rolls of the tongue (especially with an accent), and when it is reactionary.
Remembering things important to ME
This has something to do with how I react to things. I try to show people my interest in them or affection for them by remembering things we talked about previous. I think it means something to remember the last conversation we had, or even better a conversation a month ago. It says, "your important enough to remember." So when someone recalls something, even something small, like when he remembered my graduation today in conversation, it makes me smile.
Helping others
Have you ever seen that insurance commercial where a person sees someone helping another person. Then the onlooker goes on to help someone else and someone sees it...so on and so forth as a chain reaction? It is kind of like that. Don't get me wrong, I like it when you get the door for me, but even more than that, I like to see you get the door for someone else. Or pick up that dropped pen, or helping that kid on the escalator.
Taking the extra minute
It makes me feel special when you take an extra minute to come in and say hi, or make small talk on the phone when you have called for something else. Seriously, if you see my car outside take two minutes and come in.
