So last year around this time I set some "goals" for myself, 12 to be more precise. My bet was that I would do well on about a third of them and tank on the rest. With the year ending I thought I would take a look back and see how did.
*Renew my passport (so one of my 2010 goals can be to leave the country on vacation)
I downloaded the application, but that was as far as I got. But I doubt I will be leaving the country in 2010 so this isn't a bad one to pass on. But, if I put the app in the mail tomorrow could I still count it as accomplished?
*Get healthy (as in lose the 30 lbs I gained last year plus some)
Well, I only lost about 15lbs and I am pretty sure I have put it back on this holiday season. So I'll give this a progress mark, but not an accomplished mark
*Grow my fingernails out again (the stress of the potential job loss pretty much ruined them)
This one has been an uphill battle, but surprisingly enough they are looking pretty good. They are not quite the length I want them to be, but they are looking nice. Accomplished.
*Read at least 20 books (yes that is how many books I have on my night stand right now)
I am counting my re-reads. So, all 7 Harry Potter Books, Twilight, Angels and Demons, Heat Wave, Lost Symbol, The Historian, Pride and Prejudice, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, The Time Traveller's Wife, Inkheart, The G.I. Diet, and Wicked. That's 18, I am a calling that close enough...Accomplished.
*Finish a printed portfolio ('cause I am still using the one I did in college)
*Complete an all encompassing self promotion package (which I have never really had)
*Drum up a couple of "freelance" jobs ('cause apparently having one job isn't enough)
Ha, on all 3 counts! I didn't even come close to working on these. I could come up with excuses for this, but I am just going to say...it will be going on the next years list.
*Work on my silk screening (being that I got the materials for my birthday and haven't done anything with them yet)
Done and Done! I have had a lot of fun this year silk screening. I have done a couple of shirts, Christmas cards, and just some fun with paper.
*Become more comfortable holding/shooting/handling handguns and rifles (might as well make the conversion complete)
Resisting...I have held a handgun, more than once even, this year. But I wouldn't say I am comfortable or proficient
*Get in contact/stay in better contact with my friends (this means more calls and letters...get ready for annoying)Hmm...attempts were made, but it pretty much fell apart the last part of the year.
*Maintain all six of my blogs (I currently only maintain one and a half)
Ummm...nope...as a matter of fact I might have regressed on this particular goal.
*Once again start keeping a hand written journal (and collect all my digital stuff and get it into printed form)
This is shameful. I didn't even attempt this one.
So how do the counts stack up...some where between 3 and 3-1/2...so not quite a third of them got accomplished...closer to a quarter...
2009's motto was "Just maintain the forward momentum." It served me well...now I just have to come up with 2010's goals.
