Everyones subject to administrative failings :)

Let me start by saying I am not making fun of any one person or group of people here, I just find this absurdly funny. I probably find it funnier than it really is, but I still just had to share.

So here is a little bit of background. I am not LDS, but I grew up in an LDS neighborhood, with some great friends and neighbors who would let me go to church with them anytime I wanted, and I have extended family who belong to the Church, so I have access. I probably only went to church a handful of times though and it has easily been 15 years since I have been to a service. That being said as far as the Church is concerned I have "belonged" to the local 7th ward for everyone one of my 3o years of life.

Well, that is until next Sunday...I got this letter in the mail today (I have removed the personal and sensitive information, but you can still get the jist).

The letter in and of itself is not what is funny. What is funny is, if I understand correctly, is that a person can only attend a YSA (young single adult) ward until they are 31.

Dude! I just turned 30! My birthday was like a month ago. Wouldn't it have been better to save the stamp just leave me where I am or just move me to an SA (single adult) ward now instead, so you don't have to send me another letter in 6 months.

I realize there are other elements involved with this. And in the end it doesn't really concern me at all, but I still found it really funny :) Everyone is at the mercy of technical administrative short comings :)

tee hee. Ok, this makes me giggle BECAUSE I turned 31 the weekend I moved, which means I was going to be kicked out of my YSA ward. I informed the membership clerk to send my records to the FAMILY ward that I would be living in...

He sent them to another YSA ward... and not even the one that my apartment is in... no, he sent them to a University Ward in SANDY on 9500 S. I live on the South Mountain in Draper...

Yeah, you're in good company. I guess you're common law mormon now. We should go to a bar to celebrate. ;)

Well, it is nice to know that I am in good company when it comes to mis-communication :)
