A few weeks ago the local news here did a story on sleep deprivation. Did you know that going without sleep for 24 hours is equivalent to having a BAC (blood alcohol content) of .10% (the legal limit in the US ranges between .08% and .10%)? I thought that was interesting...I only bring this up because I was up for 39 hours straight. Don't ever let anyone tell you art school is easy.
After I finished finals I wanted to post here so badly, but I was totally wiped. I was figuring it out, I spent six days working on my finals in those six days I logged 90+hours of design work (this doesn't include the hours I worked at my actually place of employment). If that had been paid design work, a conservative est. would be $900 for services rendered. That made me smile a little. Then as I was ending this marathon, I had to pull an ultimate all nighter...this was thirty-nine hours, which include massive amounts of work, 2 design crits, and 5 hours of work at my job...it really wasn't a pleasant experience.
Needless to say, it has been a rough couple of weeks. Finals were brutal but they are finished, and I got everything turned in (well everything that needs to be graded turned in-we won't mention the CDs of my work that I forgot to burn). This coupled with work has got me really pushing burn out. I haven't had anything resembling a day for in about 11 days. I do have Monday off, but I have to go to court (I will explain a little further down), then my next day off isn't 'til Thursday. Because of school I wasn't able to get any Xmas shopping done, so ended up doing 90% of it after work on Saturday. The other 10% still isn't done. And if all this wasn't enough, I was subpoenaed to court (this was a low blow)
Do you remember a little over a month back (if you don't check out Counterfeit and Counterfeit Update to know what I am talking about) when I caught that counterfeit $50 at work? Well apparently there is a court date for the gentlemen involved, and I have been "commanded to appear in court." I guess it just proves the idiom "no good deed goes unpunished."
I got this subpoena just a few days before I started my finals marathon. I did everything I could not to worry about it, during finals, cause I didn't want it to get in the way. But ever since I finished up with school, this is all I could worry about. I am actually kind of scared about the whole thing. And you would think that work would want to be involved in this, but no one has said a word to me. I am a little perturbed...
Anyway I am going to try to go to bed...I have to get up early so I can be to court on time...
