I wish everyone I knew was on Twitter. What is Twitter you ask? Here's how I would describe it:
Do you like the status bar on facebook or the mood setting on myspace? I do. It's fun to take write a couple lines and let "the world" know what going on or how you feel. And that is what Twitter is; your status update without the trouble of having to maintain a social network page.
Other things Twitter can be likened to: text messaging for/from your computer it can be mass texting or directed texting.
Twitter is the one personal communication application I feel comfortable having open at work. It isn't as invasive as chatting or IM. It isn't time consuming or lengthy email, and it isn't as distracting as a phone call.
Twitter is a place to lay down those little bits of life taken somewhat out of context that make you pause and think-if only for a second.
I love it, it's fantastic you can run it in a browser window download a desktop app to run it. Like I said before I wish everyone I know was on Twitter. You should really check it out.
